2025.06.22 Weekly Update

Last Sunday I cleaned up following the bread baking extravaganza for my sweetheart’s mom’s memorial. That gave me something to focus on. Picked up my son for Father’s Day, had lunch with a friend, and did a little shopping so my kid would be outfitted for his summer gig. By the late afternoon I was set to just relax, which was challenging.

I usually have a lot to do and need to prioritize the thing that needs done NOW! So, with the list still intact, I had some unscheduled time. My kid was connecting with some friends so I watched The Wild Robot. It’s about parenting and finding purpose. It was touching but maybe not helpful in facilitating relaxation.

I have a hard time without a task. I’ve been reprogrammed, throughout my 30s and 40s, that work in service to others (family in this case) is what gives life meaning. My 50s so far have transferred much of that impulse toward service to community. While worthwhile, it may not be the healthiest for me in myriad ways.

So… on to the list of things I did this week in a fully self-aware ironical way.
