Went to the Sonoma Valley Authors Festival this weekend. I met Percival Everett. I listened to a variety of big name authors.
It includes a great gift to the community in their free event on the plaza and bringing authors to schools, but the part I was most close to for the weekend involves hundreds of very rich people not confronting how they are responsible for the unequal economic system that causes so much pain, including authors and thinkers who justify said dominant economic system, including denying there is a climate crisis.
I’ve gone for a few years because I happen to have my lodging and several nice meals paid for in exchange for a very light amount of volunteering, but I don’t plan on going again.
