New Wheels

Edit: I gave the van to someone who needed it for parts.

I am not one to post conspicuous consumption, but I hope this image of my new car will help get this message out there:

My 2002 Toyota Sienna Van (not the pictured new car) has 245K miles on it. It drives but not in reverse. It needs a new transmission which can cost up to $6,500. The van is not worth that much. Options: 1) Donate to a nonprofit to sell as a fundraiser. Will do that if no other options work. 2) Sell for parts. May do this instead. 3) ”Sell” at a low price to someone who want to make the repair on their own and have a working van. Is that you? 4) “Sell” to someone who wants to park it on their property as “temporary” living space. You? 5) “Sell” to a local organization that wants to fix the vehicle (again: up to $6500 repair) and use as org vehicle. OTCA? 6) Get a group together to pay for the repair and make it into a community owned vehicle (it is actually surprisingly large inside) for moving stuff or making dump runs or even as an event bus (seats 7!) I cannot organize this — just an idea.

I can’t put any money into the Van, but it is now officially available for you, my community, to implement one of the above options with… or some option I haven’t thought of…

Thanks to thinking outside the box with me. That’s kind of what I do and I’m glad you all put up with that.

Act quick! I gotta get it from the shop soon if repair is not in the chosen option.
